Subject: Heavy Rainfall in the South
No.9 (327/2024)
The low-pressure cell covers Malacca Strait will move to Sumatra island while the moderate northeast monsoon prevails over the South and the Gulf with the southeasterly wind prevails over the lower Gulf. Isolated heavy rain is likely in Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Krabi, Trang and Satun. People in the lower south should beware of heavy rains that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.
The moderated wind and waves in the lower Gulf are likely about 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. In the upper Gulf about 1-2 meters and the Andaman Sea, the waves have about 1 meter high and above 2 meter high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers.
