Subject: Cool to cold in Thailand
Heavy to very heavy rains in the South and Strong wind-waves in the Gulf
No. 12 (318/2023)
The strong high-pressure system from China extend to upper Thailand with cool to cold weather, strong wind. On mountaintops of the North and the Northeast, cold to very cold and isolated frost is forecast. The minimum temperature of the North mountaintops is in range of 3-12 °C while the Northeast ranges by 5-13 °C. People in the country should keep healthy and beware of fire due to strong winds and dry air.
The strong northeast monsoon prevailing over the Gulf and the South. Meanwhile, an active low-pressure cell over covers the coast of Malaysia will move through the lower South and Malaysia into the lower Andaman Sea during 24-25 December 2023. Isolated heavy to very heavy rains are also possible. People in the lower south should beware of heavy to very heavy rains that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.
Affected areas are as followings:
24 December 2023 Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Trang and Satun.
25 December 2023 Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat
At the same time, the strong wind forces the waves in the Gulf up to 2-4 meters high and above 4 meters high in thundershowers. In the Andaman Sea, the waves are likely about 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers and offshore. People along the South (east coast) should beware of inshore surges. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boats in the Gulf should keep ashore during 24-25 December 2023.
