Subject: Cool to cold in
Thailand
Heavy to very heavy rains in
the South and Strong wind-waves in the Gulf
No. 16 (322/2023)
----------------------------
The strong northeast monsoon prevails
over the Gulf and the South. Meanwhile, an active low-pressure cell covers the lower Andaman Sea. Isolated heavy to very heavy
rains are
also possible in Phatthalung,
Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Trang and Satun. People in the
lower south should beware of heavy to very heavy rains that may cause flash
floods and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and
lowlands.
At the same time,
the strong wind forces the waves in the Gulf up to 2-4 meters high and above 4
meters high in thundershowers. In the Andaman Sea, the waves are
likely about 2 meters high and 2 - 3 meters offshore, above 3 meters high in thundershowers. People along the South
(east coast) should beware of inshore surges. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small
boats in the Gulf and the Andaman Sea should keep ashore during 26–27 December 2023.
The
strong high-pressure system remains Thailand and the South
China Sea is weakening to rather strong with cool to cold
weather and strong wind remains in the upper country. On mountaintops of the
North and the Northeast, the weather is likely cold to very cold with the
minimum temperature of the North mountaintops is in range of 6-12 °C while the
Northeast ranges by 7-12 °C. People in the country should keep healthy due to
cool to cold weather and beware of fire due to strong winds and dry air.
The final advisory
is in effect on 26 December 2023, at 5.00 a.m.
