The strong
high-pressure system from China extend to the Northeast of Thailand, is
expected to cover the North, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity,
the East and the upper South regions. A decrease in temperature by 5–8 °C is likely in the Northeast, a
decrease in temperature by 4–6 °C is
likely the North and a decrease in temperature by 3–5 °C is likely in the
Central including Bangkok and its vicinity and the East while 2–4 °C decrease
in temperature is likely in the upper South. On mountaintops of the North and
the Northeast, cold to very cold and isolated frost is forecast. The minimum
temperature of the North mountaintops is in range of 3-10 °C while the
Northeast ranges by 6-12 °C. People in the country should keep healthy and
beware of fire due to strong winds and dry air.
The northeast monsoon prevailing over
the Gulf and the South will strengthen. Meanwhile, an active low-pressure cell over
the lower South China Sea will move through the lower South and Malaysia into
the lower Andaman Sea during 22-25 December 2023. Isolated heavy to very
heavy rains are likely in Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung,
Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Trang and Satun. People in the lower south
should beware of heavy to very heavy rains that may cause flash floods and overflows,
especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands. At the same time, the
strong wind forces the waves in the Gulf up to 2-4 meters high and above 4
meters high in thundershowers. In the Andaman Sea, the waves are likely about 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in
thundershowers and offshore. People along the South (east coast) should beware
of inshore surges. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off
thundershowers. Small boats in the Gulf should keep ashore during 22-25 December
2023.
