Subject: Depression
No. 7 (199/2024)
At 10.00
p.m. LST (18
September 2024), tropical depression over the upper South
China Sea was due 360 km. east of Da Nang, Vietnam or at latitude 17.0 degrees
north and longitude 111.5 degrees east. With maximum sustained winds about 55 km./hr.
This storm was moving west at speed of 15 km./hr. This
storm is forecast to make landfall over the middle of Vietnam during 19-20 September 2024. Meanwhile, the
monsoon trough lie across the lower North, the Central, the Northeast. More
rain with isolated heavy rains are likely in the country while very heavy rains
with strong wind in some places of the North, the Northeast, the Central including
Bangkok and its vicinity, the East and the South during 19-23 September 2024. People in the
areas should beware of heavy to very heavy rains with strong winds and
accumulations that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along foothills
near waterways and lowlands.
During
19 - 22 September 2024,
the strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, the South and the
Gulf. Isolated heavy to very heavy rains are likely in the South. The rather
strong wind force the waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf are likely 2-4
meters high and above 4 meters high in thundershowers. In the
lower Gulf, the waves are about 2 meters high
and above 2 meters high in thundershowers and offshore.
All
ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, The boats in the
Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf keep ashore.
