Subject: Heavy Rains in South and strong Wind-Waves in Gulf
No.3 (61/2023)
From 25 to 28 February 2023, the northeast monsoon prevails across the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea will become stronger with more rain in the lower South. Isolated heavy rains are also possible. In the upper Gulf from Surat Thani upwards, the stronger wind forces the waves 2-3 meters high and more than 3 meters high in thundershowers. The lower Gulf from Nakhon Si Thammarat downwards has the waves 2-4 meters high and more than 4 meters high in thundershowers. In the Andaman Sea offshore, the waves are 1-2 meters high. During 27 – 28 February 2023, there are heavy rains in the lower South. People in the lower South should beware of the severe condition that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along the foothills near waterways and lowlands. All ships proceed with caution, and keep off thundershowers. Small boats in the Gulf keep ashore and beware of inshore surges.
In addition, another strong high pressure system from China will extend to upper Thailand and the South China Sea with cooler condition. The temperature will decrease by 2-5 degrees Celsius with strong winds. People should keep healthy and beware of fire due to dry air and strong wind.
The advisory is in effect on 24 February 2023, at 5.00 a.m.
This next issue will be at 24 February 2023, at 5.00 p.m.
