Subject: Heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand and
Strong Wind-Waves in upper Andaman Sea
No. 4 (96/2024)
During 21–24 May 2024, the southwesterly wind prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf will strengthen while the confluence of the Southeasterly and Southwesterly overs in the North and the Northeast. Meanwhile the low-pressure cell covers the Gulf of Tonkin. More rains and isolated heavy rains are likely in the country while isolated very heavy rains are possible in the North, the Central, the East and the South (west coast). People should beware of the severe conditions that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially, along waterways and lowlands, and take more caution in thundershowers.
Affected areas are as followings:

North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Sukhothai, Phichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Lopburi, Saraburi, Suphanburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.

Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
In addition, during 22–26 May 2024, the low-pressure cell over lower Bay of Bengal will intensify and expected to move to upper Bay of Bengal. The strengthening wind and waves are likely 2-3 meters high in the upper Andaman Sea and above 3 meters in thundershowers, the waves in the lower Andaman Sea and the lower Gulf about 2 meters high and more than 2 meters high in thundershowers while the waves in the Gulf are likely about 1 meter high, 1-2 meters offshore and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. The boats in the upper Andaman Sea keep ashore. Please stay tuned for the weather update.
