Subject: Heavy
to very heavy rain in Thailand
and Strong Wind-Waves in upper Andaman Sea
No. 12 (104/2024)
The rather strong southwest monsoon prevailing over the upper Andaman Sea, the western North and the Central with isolated heavy to very heavy rains. People should beware of heavy to very heavy rains and accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows especially along waterways, lowlands and take more caution in thundershowers.
The rather strong wind and waves are likely 2-3 meters high in the upper Andaman Sea and above 3 meters in thundershowers while about 2 meters high in the lower Andaman Sea and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. In the Gulf, the waves have about 1 meter high, 1-2 meters offshore and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea keep ashore during 24–26 May.
In addition, tropical depression over the middle Bay of Bengal was center at latitude 16.0 degrees North and longitude 89.0 degrees East. With its maximum sustained winds about 55 km/hr. The storm is moving north-northeast at a speed of about 11 km/hr. It will intensify to tropical cyclone in the next phase, expected to make landfall over Bagladesh during 26 – 27 May.
