Subject: Heavy to very heavy rains in Thailand,
Strong Wind-Waves in the Andaman Sea

On 17 September 2024, the monsoon trough lie across the North, the upper Central, and the Northeast of Thailand into the low-pressure cell over the coast of middle Vietnam while the rather strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, the South, the lower Central, the East and the Gulf. Isolated heavy rains are likely in the country while isolated very heavy rains are possible in the East and the South (west coast) regions. People in these areas should beware of heavy to very heavy rains and accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands.
Affected areas are as follows:
On 17 September 2024
North: Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lampang, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet,
Phichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Loei, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram,
Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Singburi, Ang Thong, Lopburi, Saraburi,
Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya and Suphanburi including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi
and Trat.
South: Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala, Ranong,
Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
The rather strong wind forces the waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf up to 2-3 meters high and above 3 meters high in thundershowers. In the lower Gulf, the waves have about 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, small boats in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf keep ashore until 20 September 2024.
