Subject: Summer Thunderstorm in the upper Thailand
and heavy rains in the South
(Effect until 12 May 2025)

The moderate high-pressure system from China covers Vietnam and the South China Sea leading to the southerly and southeasterly winds bring the moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf to upper Thailand where hot weather occurs over the North region. Outbreaks of summer storms are possible following thundershowers, gusty wind, hail, and isolated heavy rains including lightning strikes are likely in some areas of the upper country.
Affected areas are as follows
12 May 2025
North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phrae, Uttaradit, Tak, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram and Surin.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat.
People in the upper country should beware of the thunderstorm with gusty winds, hails and strikes by keeping off outdoor places, big trees and unsecured billboards including should beware of severe conditions and accumulated rain that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands. Farmers should prevent for crops damage. People in the upper country should keep healthy due to the variable weather.
The moderate southwesterly wind prevails over the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf with more rains and isolated heavy rains in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi and Trang. People in the South should beware of heavy rains and accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands. The wind forces the waves in the Andaman Sea up to 1-2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers.
