Subject: Summer Thunderstorm in the upper Thailand
(Effect during 12-14 April 2025)

During 12-14 April 2025, the moderate high-pressure system from China will extend to the Northeast of Thailand and the South China Sea leading to the easterly and southeasterly winds bring the moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf to the upper country where hot to very hot weather occurs. Outbreaks of summer storms are possible following with thunderstorms, gusty wind and hail including lightning strike and isolated heavy rains are likely in some areas of the North, the Northeast, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity and the East regions.
Affected areas are as followings
On 12 April 2025
North: Chiang Rai, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phichit and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan,
Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Lop Buri and Saraburi.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri and Sa Kaeo.
On 13 April 2025
North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak
and Kamphaeng Phet.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Singburi, Ang Thong, Lopburi, Saraburi, Suphanburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
On 14 April 2025
North: Mae Hong Son and Tak.
Central: Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon,
and Nakhon Prathom.
People in the upper country Avoid traveling through areas experiencing thunderstorms or roads prone to recurrent flooding, especially in low-lying areas with limited drainage capacity, which may result in short-term waterlogging. Areas of particular concern include: Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province, Si Racha District and Pattaya City, Chonburi Province, Pluak Daeng and Mueang Districts, Rayong Province and Bangkok and its metropolitan area and should keep healthy due to changeable weather and beware of severe conditions by keeping off outdoor places, big trees and unsecured billboards. Outdoor activities during the Songkran Festival should be approached with extra caution. For farmers should prevent for crops damage and animals danger.
For safety and to minimize potential impacts, the public is advised to plan daily activities and travel with caution during this period.
