Subject: Summer Thunderstorm in the upper Thailand
(Effect until 1 May 2025)

The high-pressure system from China extends to Vietnam and the South China Sea leading to the confluence of southeasterly and southwesterly winds prevail over the upper country where hot weather occurs while the westerly trough from Myanmar will move pass the North and the upper Northeast. Outbreaks of summer storms are possible following with thunderstorms, gusty wind, hail and isolated heavy rains including lightning strike in some areas.
Affected areas are as followings
30 April 2025
North: Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Tak, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, and Nakhon Ratchasima.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Kanchanaburi, Lop Buri, and Saraburi.
1 May 2025
North: Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Tak, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Chaiyaphum, and Nakhon Ratchasima.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, and Lop Buri.
People in the upper country should beware of heavy rains and severe conditions by keeping off outdoor places, big trees and unsecured billboards. All transports take more caution during the phenomena. Farmers should prevent for crop damage and animals’ danger.
This advisory is in effect on 30 April 2025, at 5.00 a.m.
