Subject: Tropical depression
At 4.00 a.m. LST (19 September 2024), the tropical depression over the middle South China Sea was centered about 300 kilometers southeast of Quang Tri, Vietnam or at latitude 17.5 degrees north and longitude 110.0 degrees east. With maximum sustained winds about 55 km./hr. This storm was moving west at a speed of about 20 km./hr. It is forecast to intensify to the tropical storm by today (19 September 2024) and will make landfall over middle Vietnam during 19-20 September 2024. Meanwhile, the monsoon trough lies across the lower North, the Central, the Northeast. More rains with isolated heavy rains are likely in the country while isolated very heavy rains with strong wind are possible in the North, the Northeast, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East and the South during 19-23 September 2024. People in the areas should beware of heavy to very heavy rains with strong winds and accumulations that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands.

Northeast: Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani.
East: Chanthaburi and Trat
South: Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.

During 19 - 22 September 2024, the strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf. Isolated heavy to very heavy rains are likely in the South. The rather strong wind force the waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf up to 2-4 meters high and above 4 meters high in thundershowers. In the lower Gulf, the waves have about 2meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers and offshore. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, small boats in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf keep ashore.
