Tropical Storm “YAGI”
No. 21 (180/2024)

At 1.00
p.m. LST (8September
2024), the tropical storm “YAGI” over Phu Tho, Vietnam was downgraded to the
tropical depression. At 4.00 p.m., this storm was due at latitude 21.5
degrees north and longitude 104.5 degrees
east. With maximum sustained winds about 55 km/hr.
It was moving north-northwest slowly. This storm is forecast to downgrade to an
active low-pressure cell, respectively. Isolated heavy to very heavy rains with
gusty winds are likely in the North and the upper Northeast.
The
rather strong southwest monsoon prevails over the upper Andaman Sea, Thailand
and the upper Gulf. Isolated heavy rains are likely in the east and the South
(west coast). People in the areas should beware of heavy to very heavy rains
and accumulations that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along
foothills near waterways and lowlands. The rather strong wind force the waves
in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf are likely 2-3
meters high and above 3 meters high in thundershowers. In the lower Andaman Sea
and the lower Gulf, the waves have 1-2 meters high
and above 2 meters high in thundershowers and offshore.
All
ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, small boats in
the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf keep ashore lasting 8 September 2024.
