Subject: Storm “WIPHA” and heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand
No.11 (197/2025)

At 10.00 a.m. LST (22 July 2025), severe tropical storm “WIPHA” was made landfall over Thai Binh, Vietnam or at latitude 20.5 degrees north and longitude 106.4 degrees east with maximum sustained winds about 83 km./hr. This storm is moving west with a speed of 15 km/hr., forecast to downgrade to the tropical depression and the low-pressure cell, respectively. It is likely to move along the monsoon through lying upper Laos and the upper North. Meanwhile the strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf.
The effects of storm “WIPHA” are impacts of heavy to very heavy rain and strong wind in the North, the upper Northeast, western Central and the East during 22-24 July 2025. People in the country should beware of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.

North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon,
Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin and Mukdahan.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Lopburi, Saraburi, Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chanthaburi and Trat
South: Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.

The rather strong wind forces the waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf up to 2-4 meters high and above 4 meters high in thundershowers. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, small boats in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf should keep ashore during this period.
