"Category 5 Typhoon “Molave”"

No. 3 Time Issued October 27, 2020
     At 10.00 a.m. on 27 October, the Category 5 Typhoon \"Molave\" over the middle South China Sea was centered 675 kilometers southeast of Da Nang city, Vietnam or latitude 13.3 degree north, longitude 113.8 degree east. With its maximum sustained wind about 155 km/hr, the storm is moving west with the speed of 25 km/hr. It is expected to make landfall over middle Vietnam by 28 October, then downgrade into the Category 3 (Tropical Storm) before entering Thailand. At the same time the westerly wind across the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf will strengthen bringing about isolated heavy rain to very heavy rain with strong wind in upper Thailand. Especially in the lower Northeast.

        Affected areas of heavy rain are as followings:

        28 October 2020

        Northeast: Loei, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Mukdahan, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Amnat Charoen, Surin, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani.

        East: Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi and Trat.

        South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.

       

        Affected areas of heavy rain to very heavy rain are as followings:

        29-30 October 2020

        North: Phetchabun, Phitsanulok, Phichit, Sukhothai, Tak and Kamphaengphet.

        Northeast: Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Kalasin, Roi Et, Yasothon, Mukdahan Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket and

        Ubon Ratchathani.

        Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Lopburi, Saraburi, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Suphanburi, Nakhon Pathom, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram and Samut Sakhon including Bangkok and its vicinity.

        East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chachoengsao, Sa Kaeo, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.

        South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.

        People in the risky areas should beware of severe conditions that may cause flash flood and water runoff.

        The wind and waves over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf will strengthen with 2-3 meters high of the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf, about 2 meters in the lower Gulf and above 3 meters in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers while small boats keep ashore.

        The advisory is in effect on 27 October 2020, at 11.00 a.m.
