"Severe Heavy Rain over Thailand and Strong Winds in the Andaman Sea "

No. 9 Time Issued July 15, 2017
     The monsoon trough across the upper parts of North and Northeast and the strong southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea bring about abundant rain with torrential downpour much of the country. People should beware of severe weather conditions that cause possible flash floods. The strong winds waves of both seas are likely 2-3 meters high. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats in the Andaman Sea keep ashore. Details of affected areas are as below.

        At 10 a.m. LST, the tropical depression located over the middle South China Sea or latitude 17.0 N, longitude 112.0 E, due 400km east of Danang, Vietnam. With sustained wind of 56 km/hr, the storm tracks northwest at speed of 11 km/hr to the Gulf of Tonkin and Vietnam during 16-18 July.

       

During 15-17 July

        North: Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Sukhothai, Uttaradit, Phichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.

        Northeast: Loei, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Mahasarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani.

        Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Suphanburi, Chainat, Ang Thong, Sing Buri, Nakhon Pathom, Lop Buri and Saraburi including Bangkok and its vicinity

        East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.

        South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.

       

During 18-19 July

        North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Sukhothai, Phichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.

        Northeast: Loei, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Nong khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Ratchasima.

        Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Suphanburi, Chainat, Ang Thong, Sing Buri, Nakhon Pathom, Lop Buri and Saraburi including Bangkok and its vicinity.

        East: Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.

        South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket and Krabi.

        The advisory is in effect on 15 July 2017, at 11.00 a.m.
