"Cold spells over upper Country and heavy rain with strong winds in South"
No. 6 Time Issued December 18, 2017
The strong high pressure covers upper Thailand with cold spells and strong wind over the area. During 19-21 December, another high pressure system from China will extend to that area forcing continuous cold spells and a further decrease in temperature by 3-5 °C. Those effects are also possible in Bangkok and its vicinity. People should stay safe and keep healthy.
The South will get more rain especially in the lower Gulf with rough sea 2-3 meter high. Inshore surges are still watched for the Gulf side. All ships should proceed with caution and small boats should keep ashore.
During 22-24 December, Tropical Storm KAITAK will move to the lower portion of the South China Sea. It is likely to lose strength while passing Malaysia and the lower South of Thailand, affecting an increase of rainfall volume with torrential downpour. With rain accumulation, it may cause flash flood in the lower South. Meanwhile, the lower Gulf gets rough sea 2-4 meters high. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore.
The advisory is effect on 18 December 2017, at 11.00 a.m.
The next issue will be at 19 December 2017, at 11.00 a.m.
