Weather Warning "Typhoon MANGKHUT " No. 5 Time Issued September 15, 2018 |
At 04.00 a.m. today (15 Sep), typhoon MANGKHUT in the Pacific Ocean or eastward of Philippines. Locate at latitude 18.0 degrees north longitude 122.0 degrees east with the sustained wind about 204 km/hr. It is moving west-northwest at a speed of 20 km/hr. It will move through Luzon of the Philippines into the upper South China Sea today (15 September). After that it will move through Hainan Island, China into the upper Vietnam and southern China during 16-18 September. The strong southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, and the Gulf of Thailand. More rain and some heavy downpour are forecast for the country, especially in the western monsoon area, or in other words, the Central, the East and the South (west coast). People in the area should be aware of the impact of the severe conditions that could lead to flash floods, the overflow of the river, and landslides. The strong wind-wave in the Andaman Sea is likely 2-4 meters high and over 4 meters in thunderstorm area while the upper Gulf of Thailand 2-3 meters high. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore until 20 September. People living on the shoreline should beware of the wave that the shore.
