Weather Advisory
Subject: Strong Wind Wave and Heavy to Very Heavy Rains
No. 12 (172/2023)
----------------------------
The rather strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand while the active low pressure cell covers the coast of Myanmar. The rather strong wind forces the wave up to 2-3 meters high in the upper Andaman Sea and more than 3 meters high in thundershowers while the waves in the lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf are likely about 2 meters high and more than 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea keep ashore.
The monsoon trough lies across Myanmar, the North and the upper Northeast into the low pressure cell over the middle South China Sea. More rain and isolated heavy rain are forecast over the upper Country with isolated very heavy rain in the Northeast, the East and the South (west coast). People should beware of severe conditions that may cause flash floods and overflows.
