Subject: Heavy to very heavy Rains in Country
and strong Wind-Waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf
No. 9 (214/2023)
The monsoon trough lies across the upper north of Thailand and upper Laos into the low-pressure cell over the coast upper Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin Meanwhile, the rather strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf. Continuous rains are likely in the country while isolated heavy to very heavy rains are possible in some places of the North, the Northeast, the Central, the East and the South regions. People should beware of the severe conditions that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands. All transport takes more caution in thundershowers.
Affected areas are as follows:
2 August 2023
North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Tak, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani.
East: Prachin Buri, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket and Krabi.

Northeast: Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani.
Central: Uthai Thani and Kanchanaburi.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket and Krabi.
In the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand, the wind becomes rather strong with waves 2-3 meters high and more than 3 meters high in thundershowers. The lower Andaman Sea and the lower Gulf has waves 1-2 meters high and more than 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf keep ashore lasting 3 August.
