Subject: Heavy to Very Heavy Rain in Thailand
and Strong Wind-Waves in Andaman Sea
No. 3 (152/2023)

During 27 - 30 May 2023, the moderated southwest monsoon which prevails across the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf is strengthen while the low pressure cell over lower Vietnam is expected to move pass the country to the gulf of Martaban, Myanmar. More rain with gusty winds are likely over the country and isolated heavy to very heavy rains in the lower North, the Northeast, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East and the South. People should beware of severe conditions that may cause flash floods and overflows and take more caution in thundershowers.
Affected areas are as followings:
On 27 May 2023
Northeast: Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani.
East: Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
On 28 May 2023
North: Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin,
Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani.
Central: Nakhon
Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Suphan Buri, Lop Buri,
Saraburi, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Samut Songkhram,
Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong,
Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
On 29 - 30 May 2023
North: Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Ratchasima.
Central: Nakhon
Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Suphan Buri, Lop Buri,
Saraburi, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Samut Songkhram,
Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong,
Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
In addition, the strong wind forces the wave up to 2-3 meters high in upper the Andaman Sea are and above 3 meters high in thundershowers while the waves in the upper Gulf are 1-2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boats in the Andaman Sea keep ashore during 27 - 30 May 2023. Please stay tuned for the weather update.
