Subject: Heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand and
Strong Wind-Waves in upper Andaman Sea
No. 3 (95/2024)
During 20–23 May 2024, the southwesterly wind prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf will strengthen while during 22–26 May 2024, the low-pressure cell over lower Bay of Bengal will intensify and expected to move to upper Bay of Bengal. More rains and isolated heavy rains are likely in the country while isolated very heavy rains are possible in the western part of the North and the Central and the South (west coast). People should beware of the severe conditions that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially, along waterways and lowlands, and take more caution in thundershowers.
The strengthening wind and waves are likely 2-3 meters high in the upper Andaman Sea and above 3 meters in thundershowers, the waves in the lower Andaman Sea and the lower Gulf about 2 meters high and more than 2 meters high in thundershowers while the waves in the Gulf are likely about 1 meter high,1-2 meters offshore and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. The boats in the upper Andaman Sea keep ashore. Please stay tuned for the weather update.
