Subject: Heavy to very
heavy rain in Thailand
and Strong Wind-Waves in upper Andaman Sea
No. 9 (101/2024)
The southwest monsoon prevailing over the
Andaman Sea, western part of Thailand and the Gulf is strengthening while the low-pressure cell covers the lower North and Hinan island. Isolated heavy to
very heavy rains are likely in the country. People should beware of heavy to
very heavy rains and accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows
especially along waterways, lowlands and take more caution in thundershowers.
Affected areas are as followings:

North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit
Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun and Tak.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Nong Khai,
Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Kalasin, Khon Kaen,
Chaiyaphum, Maha Sarakham,
Roi Et and Amnat Charoen.
Central: Uthai Thani, Nakhon Sawan, Kanchanaburi, Suphanburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom,
Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.
East: Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong and Phang Nga.

and Samut Songkhram including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon and Ranong.
The southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and
the Gulf is rather strong.
The rather strong wind and waves are likely 2-3 meters high in the upper
Andaman Sea and above 3 meters in thundershowers while about 2 meters high in
the lower Andaman Sea and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. In the Gulf,
the waves have about 1 meter high, 1-2 meters offshore and above 2 meters high
in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off
thundershowers. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea keep ashore during 23–26
May.
In addition, an active low-pressure cell over the Bay of Bengal will intensify to the tropical depression during 23-24 May. It is expected to make landfall over northeastern of India and Bangladesh during 25-26 May.
