Subject: Heavy to Very Heavy Rain in the South and Strong Wind-Waves in the Gulf
No. 4 (4/2023)
From 5 to 8 January 2023, an active low-pressure cell over the lower South China Sea is expected to move near the coast of Tip of Indochina while the northeast monsoon prevailing over the Gulf and the South is strengthening. The strengthening wind force the waves in the Gulf up to 2 – 4 meters high and above 4 meters high in thundershowers. More rains and isolated heavy to very heavy rains are likely in the lower South.
Affected areas are as followings:
On 6 January 2023 : Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat
During 7 - 8 January 2023 : Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani,
Yala, and Narathiwat
People in the lower south should beware of severe condition that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands. All ships in the Gulf should proceed with caution, keep off thundershowers and small boats should keep ashore lasting 8 Jan 2023. Residents along the coast beware of inshore surges.
The advisory is in effect on 5 January 2023, at 5.00 p.m.
