Weather Advisory
Subject: Heavy Rain in South and Strong Wind-Waves in Gulf
No. 23 (44/2023)
The strong northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf of Thailand, the South of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. Heavy rains are likely in some of provinces: Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. People in the lower South should beware of heavy to very heavy rains that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially in the foothills near the waterways and the lowland areas.
In the Gulf of Thailand, the strong wind forces the waves up to 2-4 meters high and in thundershowers more than 4 meters high while Andaman offshore the waves are more than 2 meters high. People along the South (east coast) should beware of inshore surges. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boats in the Gulf keep ashore.
Since the strong high-pressure system covers Thailand and the South China Sea with cooler weather and strong winds, people in Thailand should keep healthy and beware of fire due to dry air and strong winds.
The advisory is in effect on 30 January 2023, at 5.00 a.m.
This next issue will be at 30 January 2023, at 5.00 p.m.
