Subject: Cool to cold in Upper Thailand
Heavy to very heavy rains in the South and Strong wind-waves in the Gulf
No. 5 (291/2023)
During 16–19 Nov 2023, another strong high-pressure system from China will extend to Thailand. Thundershowers with gusty wind are likely in the upper country for the first period then a decrease in temperature with strong wind. A decrease in temperature of 5–7 °C is likely in the Northeast, a decrease in 4-6 °C is likely in the North while a decrease in 2–4 °C in temperature is likely in the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity and the East. People in the upper country should keep healthy and beware of fire due to strong winds and dry air. Farmers should prepare for crops’ damage.
The rather strong northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf, the South, and the Andaman Sea with isolated heavy to very heavy rains in the South. People in the South should beware of heavy to very heavy rains and accumulations that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands.
Affected areas are as followings:
During 16-17 November 2023
South: Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
During 18-19 November 2023
South: Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
The rather strong wind forces the wave in the Gulf up to 2–3 meters high and above 3 meters high in thundershowers while about 1 meter high in the Andaman Sea, 1-2 meters high offshore, and above 2 meters in thundershowers. People along the Gulf shore should beware of inshore surges. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, small boats in the Gulf keep ashore during 17–19 Nov 2023.
