Subject: Cool to cold
in Upper Thailand
and Strong wind-waves in the Gulf

From 18–20 December 2022, strong high
pressure from China will extend to upper Thailand with cool to cold weather in
the North and the Northeast with strong wind. A decrease
in temperatures by 6-8 degrees Celsius will be likely and the minimum
temperatures are in range of 8-18 degrees Celsius. On
mountaintops, cold to very cold weather will be seen, and frosts are possible
in some area with the minimum temperatures ranging 2 – 10 degrees Celsius. In
the Central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the East region, it
is forecast to have temperatures decreasing by 4-6 degrees
Celsius and the minimum temperatures ranging 14 - 21
degrees Celsius. People should keep healthy due to the cold weather and beware
of conflagration due to strong wind and dry air.
The strong
northeast monsoon across the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea during 17 – 20
December 2022, Heavy rains are in some places of the
lower South. People in the South should beware of severe condition that may
cause flash flood and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills
and lowlands.
Affected areas are as
followings:
During
18-19 December 2022
South: Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung,
Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat,
Krabi, Trang
and Satun.
The waves are likely up
to 2 - 4 meters high and above 4 meters during thundershowers for the Gulf of
Thailand and offshore area of the Andaman Sea. Residents along the Gulf’s shore
should watch for inshore surges. All ships should proceed with caution, and
small boats in the Gulf and Andaman Sea keep ashore by lasting 20 December 2022.
