Subject: Variable Weather in upper Thailand
No.6 (52/2023)
Another rather strong high-pressure system from China covers the Northeast and will extend to another regions in the next stage, while hot weather remains in the upper country. Meanwhile during 16 – 17 February 2023, the westerly trough will move pass the North. Thunderstorm with gusty winds and hails will be likely in the upper country in the first period after that temperature will decrease and strong wind. A decrease in temperature by 4 - 6 °C is likely in the Northeast, while 1 – 4 °C decrease in temperature is likely in the North, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity and the East region. People in the upper country should beware of the severe condition by keeping off outdoor places, big trees and unsecured billboards. Farmers should prevent for crop damage.

On 14 February 2022
Northeast: Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani.
Central: Nakhon
Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Sing Buri, Ang Thong,
Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.
On 15 February 2022
North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai and Tak.
Northeast: Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram and Surin.
Central: Nakhon
Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Suphan Buri, Sing Buri,
Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon,
Nakhon Pathom, including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chumphon.
On 16-17 February 2022
North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Phichit, Kamphaeng Phet, Sukhothai and Tak.
During 15 – 19 Feb 2023, the easterly and the southeasterly winds prevailing over the Gulf of Thailand, the South and the Andaman Sea will strengthen with more rain in the South. The wind and waves in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea will be stronger with about 2 meters high in the lower Gulf and 2 - 3 meters in thundershowers. All ships in the Gulf should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers area.
