1. Heavy rains and strong winds in the south. The strong northeast monsoon across the Gulf and southern Thailand with continuous rainfalls and isolated heavy rains in southern. People are advised to brace for the severe conditions that may cause flash floods and forest runoffs in this period. The effected areas are as follow; During 16 December, provinces: Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Krabi, Trang and Satun. The strong high-pressure system remains cover upper Thailand, and the strong northeast monsoon prevails across the Gulf of Thailand. Cold spells with strong winds are expected in the areas. In the North and the Northeast temperatures decrease by 1-2 °C. A slight decreasing temperature are forecast for Central, East, and Bangkok and vicinity. People are advised to keep warm and stay healthy due to the sharp cold spells. In the South, isolated heavy to very heavy rains are possible, and people in the areas where gains the accumulated rainfall should brace for the possible flash floods and the forest runoffs. During 16-18 Dec, the strong high pressure area from China covers upper Thailand and the South China Sea. Colder conditions with strong winds are forecast for upper Thailand. Temperature will drop 1-3 °C in the North, while a slight decreasing temperature are forecast for the rest region. The strong northeast monsoon prevails across the Gulf of Thailand, the South, and the Andaman Sea. Isolated heavy to very heavy rain are likely over the South. Rough sea in the Gulf gets 2-3 meters and the Andaman Sea is expected about 2 meters high of waves. During 19-22 Dec, the high pressure area will weaken with increasing temperature by 1-3 °C.
