Weekly Forecast for 14 – 20 Oct 2024During 14 – 15 Oct, The easterly and the southeasterly winds prevail over the lower North, the lower Northeast, the Central including Bangkok Metropolitan Region and the East with thundershowers in the upper country and isolated heavy rains in the lower Northeast, the lower Central including Bangkok and its vicinity and the East. Meanwhile, the weak high-pressure system covers the upper North and the upper Northeast with cool in the morning. At the same time, the monsoon trough lies across the middle South with isolated heavy rains. During 16 – 20 Oct, the monsoon trough will move to lie across the lower Central, the East and the upper South while the low-pressure cell over Cambodia will move through the East, the upper South and the upper Andaman Sea. during 19 – 20 Oct, the high-pressure system from China will extend to the upper North and the upper Northeast lead to the easterly and southeasterly winds bring the moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf to upper Thailand. More rains with gusty wind are likely in the upper country and continuous rainfalls are likely in the South. Isolated heavy rains are likely in the North and the Northeast while isolatd very heavy rains are likely in the lower Central including Bangkok and vicinity, the East and the South. The wind and waves in the Andaman Sea are likely about 1 meter high while the waves in the Gulf are likely below 1 meter high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers throughout the period.
Caution
During 16 – 20 Oct, people in the country should beware of thundershowers, gusty wind including heavy to very heavy rains and accumulations that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should keep off thundershowers throughout the period.
