Subject: Heavy to Very Heavy Rain in upper Thailand
No.4 (171/2026)
----------------------------
During 29 August – 2 September 2026, the monsoon trough will move to lies across the North and the upper Northeast into the active low pressure cell over the coast of upper Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin. Meanwhile, the rather strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf with more rain and isolated heavy to very heavy rains mostly in the upper North, the upper Northeast and the East including the windward side. People in the country should beware of heavy to very heavy rains and accumulation that may cause flash floods, overflows and landslides especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.
The rather strong wind forces the waves in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf up to 2-3 meters high and above 3 meters high in thundershowers. In the lower Andaman Sea, the waves are expected about 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf keep ashore.
The advisory is in effect on 28 August
2026, at 5.00 a.m.
