Weather Advisory
Subject: Heavy to Very Heavy Rains in Thailand
No.1 (260/2026)
----------------------------
During 18–20 October 2026, continuous rain with isolated heavy to very heavy rain is expected over the South and the East. After that, during 21–25 October 2026, rainfall will increase, bringing isolated heavy to very heavy rains along with gusty winds to the lower Northeast, the Central region including Bangkok and vicinity, the East, and the upper South.
During this period, people are advised to closely monitor weather forecasts and people in the affected areas should beware of gusty wind and heavy to very heavy rains and accumulated rainfall that may cause flash floods, overflows and landslides especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.
This is because during the first period the monsoon trough will lie across the lower South while the southwest monsoon prevails over the lower Andaman Sea. After that, the monsoon trough will move up to lie across the upper South, the upper Gulf and the East. Meanwhile another high-pressure system from China will extend to cover the upper North, the upper Northeast and the South China Sea.
The winds force the wave in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf up to above 3 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers.
The advisory is in effect on 17 October
2026, at 5.00 a.m.
This next issue will be on 17 October 2026, at 5.00 p.m.
