Subject: Storm “WIPHA” and heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand

At 07.00 a.m. LST (21 July 2025), severe tropical storm “WIPHA” has downgraded to tropical storm already, at 10.00 a.m., it was centered near the coast of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi, China or at latitude 21.3 degrees north and longitude 109.4 degrees east with maximum sustained winds about 85 km./hr. This storm is moving west-southwest with a speed of 15 km./hr., expected to move into the Gulf of Tonkin. Storm “WIPHA” is forecast to make landfall at Thai Binh, Vietnam by tomorrow (22 July 2025) before downgrading to tropical depression and the low-pressure cell, respectively. It is likely to move along the monsoon through lying upper Laos and the upper North. Meanwhile the strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf.
The effects of storm “WIPHA” are impacts of heavy to very heavy rain and strong wind in the North, the upper Northeast, the western portion of the Central, the East and the South (west coast) during 21-24 July 2025. People in the country should beware of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.

North: Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, and Mukdahan.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Sakhon, including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ranong, and Phangnga.
During 22 July 2025
North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, and Nakhon Ratchasima.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Suphan Buri, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat
South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ranong and Phang Nga.
During 23-24 July 2025
North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phichit, Phetchabun, Kamphaeng Phet, and Tak.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Ubon Ratchathani.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Suphan Buri, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat
South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ranong, and Phangnga.
The rather strong wind forces the waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf up to 2-4 meters high and above 4 meters high in thundershowers. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, small boats in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf should keep ashore during this period.
