Subject: Summer Storm in Thailand

No. 5 (64/2024)

During 19-20 March 2024, the moderate high-pressure system from China will extend to upper Thailand and the South China Sea while hot to very hot weather occurs in the upper country. Outbreak of summer storms are possible following with thunderstorms, gusty wind and hail including lightning strike in the country for the first period and then a decrease in temperature. People in the country should stay safe from the severe weather conditions by keeping off outdoor places, large trees and unsecured buildings. Farmers should prevent for crops damage and animals danger.

Affected areas are as followings:

On 19 March 2024

North:          Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Sukhothai, Uttaradit, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phichit and Phetchabun.

Northeast:   Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin and Ubon Ratchathani.

Central:       Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Lopburi, Saraburi, Singburi, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Suphanburi, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram including Bangkok and its vicinity.

East:            Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.

On 20 March 2024

North:          Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok and Tak

Central:       Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Kanchanaburi, Suphanburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram.

South:         Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.

The advisory is in effect on 19 March 2024, at 5.00 a.m.
